Putting the right outfit together for a shoot can be an intimidating task. These tips below should alleviate some concern.
Solid and bold colors such as bright greens, neon yellows, fire engine reds etc can have an over-powering affect (not the good kind) in photos. We don't want to take away from your beautiful faces! Instead, lean towards calming earth tones and neutrals. Don't shy away from patterns! Rustic plaids and Aztec prints, pretty florals and bohemian lace; all of these look stunning in outdoor settings. Steer clear of fabrics that make you feel restricted. The more movement the better! I want you to feel comfortable. This also goes for footwear. I encourage you to leave the high heels and dress shoes at home. Instead opt for boots and/or sandals depending on the season. And of course barefoot is always welcomed and encouraged for those boho styled photos.
If you're more of a visual person, let me know and I can send you some photos for inspiration!
Outside always! Once you've booked with me, I scout out the perfect location for our shoot depending on how many are in your party, the time of year and the time of day. My locations involve grassy fields, mountains, old trees, the occasional barn, oceans...you get the idea. ;-)
It's the day of and your kids are not "in the mood". That's okay!!! Please don't stress. Kids are going to be kids no matter what, and I encourage you to let them be. Some of the best photos come from kids being themselves no matter what mood they are in. So embrace the chaos that might ensue, and trust that I'll capture them in all their unique wonderfulness.
I mean it when I say I LOVE taking your photograph, so when it comes to sitting down and editing, I can not WAIT. Generally speaking, I do my best to deliver your photos within 2 weeks of shooting them. Some will be quicker than others, some may be longer! I will communicate with you after our shoot and give you a more accurate turn over time.
Let's be real. We live on the West Coast! It likes to rain here...a lot. Some months more than others! That being said, I'm game if you are. My main concern when it comes to shooting our session is not only delivering photos I can be proud of, but more importantly delivering photos you're going to love. If you have your heart set on that warm golden glow, it's probably best to book in the summer. If you like the gorgeous colours of Fall, get ready for a little back and forth as we try and predict the weather. If we need to reschedule due to the pouring rain, we will do just that. But if you feel like braving the elements, and I feel confident in delivering, then let's do this! Above all else, I want you to be happy and I'll do everything I can to make sure that happens.
